Walton & Kirton Badminton Club is a friendly club of
appoximately 25 members, both young and old and has existed for more than 50
years. Club nights and home matches are played at Walton Church Hall, near Felixstowe in Suffolk. It is considered by many to be the perfect badminton hall, with good lighting, a high ceiling and clear markings on a wooden parquet floor. There is only one court, and this does tend to create the need for competitive badminton to be played.

We are actively seeking new members to join the club and would welcome any enquiries. Ages from 14 to 80 ! for friendly club badminton or more competitive league badminton in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Club Nights and Match Nights
Club nights are held 7.30pm until 9.30pm, every Tuesday & Friday, and our season lasts from September through until April. Home matches are usually played on Monday evenings starting at 7.00 p.m.throughout the season.

Club Notices
The Wesel Singles Mens tournament was only recently completed and was won by Tim who defeated all the other participants. Sadly the Ladies tournament was abandoned through lack of support.
The Howlett Cup mixed doubles tournament was played on Friday 5th December 2008. It was well attended with 7 pairs competing. With the handicaps in place many of the games were close but the ultimate winners were Pam & Jon with Margaret & Ian coming a close second. Thanks to Alison for organising the competition.
The Mixed Plate doubles tournament was played on Friday 6th February 2009.Unfortunately only 3 pairs participated but there were some close games and the eventual winners, Jon and Alison, only won on points for and against.
The Presidents Cup Mens and Ladies Doubles tournaments, were played on Friday 20th March 2009. After some spirited games the ultimate winners were Tim & Phill (Mens doubles) and Sheena & Margaret (Ladies doubles). More entrants required for next year.
The IDL Playford Trophy competition was played away against Skillcentre on Monday 2nd January. Despite only a 6 point handicap advantage and missing Ian and Lisa Cobb we lost by only 39 points. There were some close games and the ladies excelled by winning all of their games. Skillcentre will now play YMCA at home in the next round - and the best of British to them !
Please note that Daniel Hooper, one of our ex young stars, has now been placed in the top 100 of the national rankings for men's singles. (EADT 20.2.07) - Well done Dan!
The club's website is now listed on the Felixstowe TV website under 'Local Links' - Clubs,Groups,Charities - Sports.
A game of 'Rounders' will be arranged for the club and family members provided that we have enough participants (need about 12 people minimum) A date has been fixed for Friday 17th July 2009 at Brackenbury.(weather permitting) Please put your names on the notice board list if you would like to play. No experience necessary!
Tim will be arranging another club bike ride (starting from the club) on Sunday 16th August 2009. Approx 20 miles round trip with stops on the way at the Maybush, Fox and Feathers! Not exactly Olympic training but much more fun ! Please put your names on the notice board.
An end of season evening meal was arranged at the Fludyers pub on Thursday 30th April 2009. There was a good turn out with past as well as present members. The food was excellent and a good time was had by all.
The AGM was held at the club on Wednesday 10th JUNE 2009 at 7.30 p.m. Disappointingly, it was another poor turn out by members. The current committee was re-elected and subscriptions will remain the same for next season.
The Summer Club has just started - every Monday at 7.30 p.m. Please try and attend. Cost is only £15 for the summer, incl refreshments.
